"Union" Flag Issue

The latest addition to the growing number of faststamps depicts the "Union" flag is to be issued on the 21st May 2012. The reason for the issue is to honour the Diamond Jubilee  though some cynics could suggest that it has something to do with the campaign against the move towards Scottish Independence and the Referendum vote in 2014.

The image from the Royal Mail Website suggests that a Hytec machine was used to produce the faststamp illustrated there. Other images showing Wincor versions of these faststamps have been circulated by Royal Mail and seen in the philatelic literature and various websites.

I hope to have examples of this new issue shortly after the release and will include details on this blog in due course.
